TV host Dr. Oz, made an appearance on Fox & Friends to discuss an upcoming interview with Ivanka Trump. Right when the segment is about to end he shockingly defends medical marijuana, stating “People think it’s a gateway drug to narcotics. It may be the exit drug to get us out of the narcotic epidemic.”

“We’re not allowed to study it because it’s a Schedule I drug, and I personally believe it could help,” the physician, TV host and author said. Heroin and LSD are also in Schedule I alongside marijuana, yet cocaine and methamphetamine are classified in the less restrictive Schedule II category.
The Controlled Substance Act’s Schedule I is the most restrictive category. It is supposed to be reserved for drugs with no medical value and a high potential for abuse. California lawmakers passed a joint resolution last week officially requesting the federal government to reschedule marijuana once and for all.
